What Sports Can Teach Us About Classroom rules for improved student behavior

Setting up ground rules for a classroom is very important. Whether they adhere to the rules or not is a completely different matter, setting them at the beginning of the session is what brings about the initiative and idea of being disciplined. As we are aware, classes are no longer taken in complete offline modes, we have entered that era where it is normal to have virtual classes. Parents, teachers, and students have always been skeptical about it but when it was a complete necessity there was no denying that virtual classes were the better option. At some point in time along the journey of learning to use LMS portals, they realized that it is better than traditional classes in some instances.

Whether students attend traditional classes or lessons through school management software, teachers need to establish some rules that everyone must follow. Yet as a moral code of conduct, students can establish rules for themselves. Here are a few of them;

  • Always prepare yourself before every lesson, having read the topics or potion stopped in the previous class. Preparation with learning materials is also important, such as textbooks, laptops or tablets, geometry boxes, water, and so on.
  • Don’t cheat. Cheating might seem a very good option when you are not prepared for tests and are on the verge of completely paling. But as a moral code of conduct not cheating on others teaches you to be self-reliant all the time, gives you a sense of freedom, gives you a sense of power, and helps you be a morally good person.
  • Try to be on time as much as possible. Punctuality is the quality that most people adore, teachers or not. It will get you places in life, and your employers are sure to adore you in the future.
  • Be an attentive child. This is not for the sake of appearing to be a good student or putting up a face where teachers are fond of you. Attention might reduce the amount of workload you would have after going back home because you’ve already understood and learned most of it while the class was going on.
  • Don’t vandalize the classroom, and if you are attending an online class, don’t mess around with the loopholes of some features. Some students know only the LMS full form, then others have figured out the possible loopholes to take advantage of them. Try to be a child who chooses not to misuse these despite being aware.
  • Try to be appropriately dressed. Just because you are attending all your classes virtually does not mean that you would be in an informal attire at all times. Being dressed for the occasion is not only for fulfilling formalities but also for putting yourself in the mood for the situation.
  • Respect all your classmates, despite your personal preferences, criticisms, and opinions.
  • Keep your classroom clean if you have started going back to school, or your desk organized in case you are still attending the virtual ones. Most students have a very messy homepage screen on their desktops and mobile screen phones because of the overwhelming amount of data a school management software shares. Organizing this reduces a lot of workload from students, keeping them from being frustrated while studying and focusing more on the actual study material.
  • Don’t distract yourself, and others, and try to keep distractions as far away as possible. If you have recently gotten into a good online game and plan on playing it while boring classes on, simply choose not to. it takes a lot of effort in the beginning but practicing to focus on every class, no matter how boring, makes you a good student and helps you study on the clock.
  • Maintain good personal hygiene, carry a water bottle and place it beside or on your desk to avoid getting up in between classes.
  • Try not to intentionally delay submitting your homework by procrastinating all day and turning in a bad quality assignment when you could have done otherwise.
  • Try to participate in the classroom activities and question our sessions as much as possible. It helps you have a clear idea about the given topic, and be productive.
  • Always take permission, unless the teacher has instructed otherwise.
